Literally, “to/for many years”. Calque of Byzantine Greek εις έτη πολλά (eis étē pollá). Compare Bulgarian за много години (za mnogo godini), Albanian për shumë vjet, Serbo-Croatian за много годинa, Aromanian ti multsã anj.
