Etymology edit

From Old Frisian hlakia, hlakkia, from Proto-West Germanic *hlakōn, *hlakkōn, from Proto-Germanic *hlakkōną. Cognate with Saterland Frisian laachje (to laugh), Old English hlacerung (scoffing, mockery, scorn), Icelandic hlakka (to scream, screech).
