Etymology edit

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish ملز (melez, mixed, half-bred, mongrel),[1] from Persian ملس (sweet and sour, twilight, cotton-silk mix fabric, bastard), from Arabic مَلَس (malas, twilight).[2]
