Etymology edit

meso- +‎ -logy; a compound with components derived from Ancient Greek μέσος (mésos, meso-, middle) + -λογία (-logía, -logy, branch of study). The term arose in various European languages c. 1850, but did not exist in Ancient Greek.

mesology (countable and uncountable, plural mesologies)

  1. The study of the mutual interrelationships between organisms and their environment; branch of biology; former term for ecology.
    Apart from genetics the mesology bears a great influence on the physical body.
  2. The environmental or sociological influence on a person.
    The mesology of a child can be resumed in two living environments: the family and the school.
