Etymology edit

Remade from or influenced by French métis, from Late Latin mixticius,[1] from Latin mixtus. Cf. the older form mesticcio and also misticcio.[2][3] The archaic variants mestizo, mestizzo were taken from Spanish mestizo.[1]
