- (pharmacology) A drug with structure and actions similar to those of lidocaine, given (usually as the hydrochloride) orally or intravenously in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias, and sometimes for the relief of neurogenic pain; 1-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanamine, C6H3(CH3)2(OCH2CH(CH3)NH2).
