From mùha + -ar. Parallelly formed in Slovene mȗhvič, mȗhič, dialectal Slovak mušec, Russian мыше́й (myšéj), Ukrainian миші́й (myšíj), Belarusian мяшэй (mjašej) (the meaning varies concerning the specific grass).
