Etymology edit

Formed from the root si (to lean on) (as in Sanskrit श्रयते (śrayate)) by adding the prefix ni-. Formally corresponds to post-Vedic Sanskrit निश्रयते (niśrayate), but this appears to be a parallel development.[1]

  1. to lean on, to rest on
  2. to have as a foundation

Conjugation edit

  • Present active participle: nissayant, which see for forms and usage
  • Absolutive: nissāya, which see for forms and meaning.

Adjective edit
