    • c. 209 BCE, Plautus, Asinaria 5.2.858–859:
      At nunc dehinc scītō illum ante omnēs minimī mortālem pretī, / madidum, nihilī, incontinentem atque ōsōrem uxōris suae.
      But now henceforth know that he, before all, is a mortal of the least worth, / drunken, of no value, incontinent and a hater of his wife.
