Etymology
Euphemistically identifies the purpose of a lavatory as a place to apply make-up.
Verb
- (euphemistic) To use the toilet (nearly always refers to women only).
- I'll be right back; I just have to powder my nose.
- (of a woman or group of women) To temporarily leave the company of others, often to a restroom, for a brief respite from a crowd, to engage in private conversation, reapply make-up, etc.
