Etymology edit

Equivalent to ræddes (be afraid) +‎ -sel (act of). From Old Danish ræzæl, ræzlæ, from Old Norse hræzla, from hræða (to scare) + -sla (act of). Cognate with Norwegian redsel and Swedish rädsla.
