Etymology edit

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish طبقی (ṭıbḳı),[1][2][3] from Arabic طِبْقًا (ṭibqan), adverbial accusative of طِبْق (ṭibq, thing that matches in form), it is uncertain if it is derived with the Arabic ـِيّ (-iyy, nisba suffix) or Turkish (possessive suffix).[4]
