From Ottoman Turkish طاقنمق (ṭaḳınmaḳ, “to assume, to put on, to wear”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish طاقمق (ṭaḳmaḳ, “to put, to affix, to attach”), from Proto-Turkic *tak- (“to attach, to bind to, to affix”),[2][3] morphologically tak- + -ın + -tı.

- An unresolved issue or a thought that persists in one's mind.
- (psychology) Being clinically preoccupied with or focused on something, or the thing one is preoccupied with or focused on; obsession.
- A small and insignificant debt.
- (education) A class subject a student has failed and has to take a makeup exam on.
- (slang) A person one is in a relationship with, often implied to be of a casual nature.
