Sino-Vietnamese word from 中便, composed of 中 (“medium; middle”) and 便 (“convenience”), modelled after đại tiện (大便, “to defecate [i.e. ‘big convenience’]”) and tiểu tiện (小便, “to urinate [i.e. ‘small convenience’]”).
