Etymology edit

From Arabic أَوْلاد (ʔawlād), plural of وَلَد (walad), whence Maltese wild (progeny), of which ulied does not anymore function as a plural, however.

Pronunciation edit

Noun edit

ulied

  1. one's children; offspring
    1. plural of iben (son)
    2. plural of bint (daughter)

Usage notes edit

  • In order to specify sex in the plural, the appositions subien (boys) and bniet (girls) are used; see these.
