Internationalism, borrowed from Dutch volontair, volontaire, from French volontaire, from Middle French voluntaire, from late Old French voluntaire, borrowed from Latin voluntārius (“voluntary; volunteer”), from voluntās (“free will”), from volō, velle (“wish, intend”).[1]
