Etymology 2 edit

From the earlier prevalent but now chiefly dialectal yayxalamaq, from yayxa- +‎ -ala, for which comapre Ottoman Turkish یایقامق (yayqamaq) and modern Turkish yıkamak. Ultimately from Common Turkic *yāy- (to shake), and its older form *yāń-.[1]

Related to yayxanmaq.
