badak
Indonesian edit
Etymology edit
Inherited from Malay badak, from Javanese ꦧꦝꦏ꧀ (badhak) (compare Javanese ꦮꦫꦏ꧀ (warak, “rhinoceros”)), from Old Javanese warak (“rhinoceros”) (compare Old Javanese wadak (“wild buffalo”)), probably from Proto-Austroasiatic (compare to Proto-Bahnaric *-rok (“cow, ox”) and Proto-Mon-Khmer *ruuk (“ox”)). Doublet of warak.
