Etymology edit

From Byzantine Greek κορίτσιν (korítsin), itself from Greek κόρη (kóri) with the medieval diminutive suffixe -ίκι(ον) (-íki(on)), and the Pontic Greek diminutive suffix -όπον (-ópon), probably derived from Ancient Greek -ωπός (-ōpós).[1]
