Metathesis of Proto-Slavic *dolnь; displaced with metathetic ладо́нь (ladónʹ). Doublet of длань (dlanʹ), a borrowing from Old Church Slavonic. Cognates include Ukrainian доло́ня (dolónja) or доло́нь (dolónʹ).
