From Proto-Turkic *yanar- (indefinite future participle of *yan-). Cognate with Tuvan чанар (çanar, to go home), Khakas нанарға (nanarğa, to return), Shor нанарға (to return), Southern Altai јанар (ǰanar, to return home), etc.
