editFrom Proto-Mordvinic *śiśəm, from Proto-Uralic *śäjćemä~*ćäjćemä (“seven”). Related to Finnish seitsemän, Inari Sami čiččâm, Eastern Mari шым (šym), Udmurt сизьым (śiźym), Tundra Nenets сӣˮив (syīqyiw°).
