From Proto-Turkic *urug (clan, kins; seed; child).

Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (uruğ, seed; descendants); Kazakh ру (ru, clan), Kyrgyz уруу (uruu, clan), Turkmen urug (clan), Chuvash ӑру (ăru, clan; generation); Yakut уруу (uruu, kin, kinsfolk).

    The rite depends on the clan (=each clan has its own rituals).
