1. to close (window, door, shutter)

     בימי הקיץ, אם לא הגיף את התריס, הייתה השמש יוקדת בחלון כבר משעות הצהריים והופכת את החדר לכבשן.

     On summer days, if he did not close the shutter, the sun would blaze through the window already at noon and turn the room into a kiln.
