Etymology edit
Blend of שְׁנֵי (sh'néi, “two”) + שֶׁקֶל (shékel, “sheqel”). The word was invented during a radio game on the Israeli Galei Tzahal station in December 2007, when the two-new-sheqel piece was first introduced.
