Karakhanid edit

Etymology edit

Usually transcribed as topurğān etymologized to be from a now defunct verb *topurmāq, however such a verb is unattested, due to this Clauson suggests that this is a misspelling of toprağān and suggests the root تُبْراماقْ (toprāmāq, to dry, wither) whence تُبْراقْ (toprāq, soil).[1]

Noun edit

تُبُرْغانْ (topurğān)

  1. soft ground, gumbo
