Not from the root ح ر ش(ḥ r š) related to “scratching” and “instigating” but from Ge'ez ሐሪሥ (ḥäriś, rhinoceros). Doublet of حُرْش(ḥurš, forest), see Hebrew חֹרֶשׁ(ḥóreš, grove, thicket).
