Etymology edit

Since, often, calamar on a plate or in its natural habitat appears white, it is probably the same word as سِبِيدَاج (sibīdāj, “white lead”). Compare the repurposing of كَرْكَنْد (karkand, “ruby spinel”) for “lobster”.
