Uncertain. Perhaps cognate with Kurukh [script needed] (goṭṭā), Kumarbhag Paharia [script needed] (goṭ). Compare also the Indo-Aryan terms Rajbanshi गोटै (goṭai, all), Kamta गोटेला (goṭelā, all), Kochila Tharu गोट्टे (goṭṭe, all), which are usually traced to Prakrit *𑀕𑁄𑀝𑁆𑀝 (*gŏṭṭa, something round).[1]
