Etymology

Prefixed from و ق ي (w-q-y) to obtain an anatomical noun, from which the rest is denominal. مَأْقًى (maʔqan, “inner corner of the eye”) can actually be directly according to the usual grammar rules from وَقَى (waqā, “to guard ~ to regard ~ to observe”), as مُؤَقَّت (muʔaqqat) equals مُوَقَّت (muwaqqat).
