ܒ ܥ ܛ (b ˁ ṭ) |
1 term |
From the older form ܒܵܥܸܛ (bāˁiṭ), from Aramaic [Term?], with the /ṭ/, shifting to /č̣/ as observed in many words. Compare Classical Syriac ܒܥܲܛ (“to kick, trample”). The meaning developed from that flattening is what often happens when something is trampled.
