Classical Syriac edit
Etymology edit
A likely ancient distortion of Ancient Greek χελιδόνιον (khelidónion), with artificial Graecizing ending. Arabic طَيُّون (ṭayyūn) may tells us something about the Aramaic inflection and vocalization.
