From Biblical Hebrew צִידוֹן (Ṣīḏōn), from Phoenician 𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤍 (ṣydwn /⁠Ṣīdūn⁠/). Likely from shared root ܨ-ܘ-ܕ (ṣ-w-d) related to fishing.
