Etymology edit

Semi-learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܩܠܝܠ ܛܝ̈ܡܐ (qallīl ṭīmē). From the construct form of ܩܲܠܘܼܠܵܐ (qalūlā, lightweight) + ܛܝܼܡܹ̈ܐ (ṭīmē, values; prices), as a subsitute for the common Persianism ܐܲܪܙܵܢ (arzān).
