Etymology

From Proto-Indo-Aryan *uparaṭati (compare Sanskrit आरटति (āraṭati), उपह्वयते (upahvayate), उपारुदति (upārudati)). Compare Old Marathi 𑘀𑘨𑘚𑘰𑘜𑘹 (araḍāṇe), Gujarati આરડવું (āraḍvũ), Hindi अरराना (arrānā).
