Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘐𑘳𑘕 (guja), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀕𑀼𑀚𑁆𑀛 (gujjha), from Sanskrit गुह्य (gúhya). Compare Gujarati ગૂજ (gūj), Old Gujarati गूझ (gūjha), गोझ (gojha), Hindustani گُجّھا (gujjhā) / गुझा (gujhā), گُجِھی (gujhī) / गुझी (gujhī), Sindhi ڳُجهَہ / ॻुझ ڳُجُهہ / ॻुझु, ڳُجهو / ॻझो, Punjabi ਗੁੱਝ (gujjha) / گُجّھ (gujjh), ਗੁੱਝਾ (gujjhā) / گُجّھا (gujjhā), Old Punjabi ਗੁਝਾ (gujhā /⁠gujjhā⁠/), Marwari गूझ (gūjh).
