editInherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀳𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀇 (hakkaï) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀮𑁆𑀮- (-lla-), from Sanskrit हक्कयति (hakkayati). Related to हाकणे (hākṇe) without the -𑀮𑁆𑀮- (-lla-) extension. Cognate with Sindhi هَڪِلَڻُ / हकिलणु. [1]
