Etymology edit

Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *tan-tay (father) or Proto-Dravidian *tan-ṯi. Cognate with Kannada ತಂದೆ (tande), Tamil தந்தை (tantai), Telugu తండ్రి (taṇḍri).
