Etymology edit

Uncertain. Derivable from both Proto-Kartvelian *c̣₁ero- (crane) and Proto-Kartvelian *ḳwer- (crow). If inherited from the former then this word is a doublet of წა̈̄რუ̂ (c̣ǟrû, crane (Grus spp.)).
