Etymology edit

From an uncertain prefix កាំ (kam) + ភ្លើង (phləəng, fire).

This prefix could be a dialectal variant of the instrumental prefix kVN- (like in កន្ត្រង), or could relate to កាំ (kam), a silex object that is sharp and capable of producing fire. [1]
