Etymology

edit

From English cabaret, from French cabaret. Most dictionaries list it as derived solely from French, although キャ (kya) is more likely to be a transcription of the English sequence /kæ/ (as in キャプテン (kyaputen, captain), キャラクター (kyarakutā, character), etc.), which is not present in French.
