Etymology

Blend of 홍준표 (Hong-junpyo, “Hong Joon-pyo”) +‎ 발정(發情) (baljeong, “rut; sexual stimulation”), from a 1972 incident in which Hong was apparently involved in a housemate's attempt to use a stimulant drug for pigs as a date rape drug, which became widely publicized when he ran for president in 2017.
