Etymology edit

Literally "dwellers of the mountain-land",[1] from *ฤ€kaufaka- + *-(i)ya- (adjectival suffix). *ฤ€kaufaka- itself is composed of *ฤ- (โ€œtoโ€) + *kaufa- (โ€œmountainโ€) + *-ka- (hypocoristic suffix).
