ɤ

  1. (IPA) a close-mid back unrounded vowel.
  2. (superscript 𐞑, IPA) [ɤ]-coloring or a weak, fleeting, epenthetic or echo [ɤ].

Usage notes

edit

Sometimes mistaken for or replaced with the velar consonant letter Latin gamma (ɣ), which unlike ɤ drops below the baseline. The old 'baby gamma' form was changed to the modern 'ram's horn' form to help avoid such confusion.
