Etymology edit

Cognate with Manchu ᡝᠮᡠ (emu, one), Evenki умӯн (umūn), Even өмэн (ömən) and Even умэн (umən).[1]

In case of reading /mɑs/, possibly cognate with Korean (mat, eldest) or Korean 마수 (masu, first).[2]
