Etymology edit

Inherited from Sanskrit -कार (-kāra); synchronically, as from the root of the verb karoti.

Noun edit

-kāra m

  1. one who works with the object denoted by the prefix
  2. one who makes the object or state denoted by the prefix

Usage notes edit

Overlaps with kāra in some compounds; unlike the suffix, the word does not convey the general sense of 'worker' or 'maker'.
