Etymology edit
Inherited from Sanskrit -कार (-kāra); synchronically, as from the root of the verb karoti.
Noun edit
-kāra m
- one who works with the object denoted by the prefix
- one who makes the object or state denoted by the prefix
Usage notes edit
Overlaps with kāra in some compounds; unlike the suffix, the word does not convey the general sense of 'worker' or 'maker'.
