Most likely from the name of the fictional Necronomicon, or from Ancient Greek νομῐκόν (nomikón), the neuter form of νομικός (nomikós, “relating to laws”) (also used in the titles of various real works, like the Nomicon of Photius, or the 18th century Nomicon Procheiron of Michael Photinopoulos).
