- (virology) A virulent variant of the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus, which causes COVID-19; starting a new wave and becoming dominant in the United Kingdom in late 2021. It is a sublineage of B.1.617.2 (“Delta variant (“Indian variant”)”) with the K417N spike protein mutation.
