Pseudo-Ancient Greek, seemingly formed as ἀλκή (alkḗ, strength) +‎ -ιμος (-imos, -ible). Compare Alcēsimarchus (a name Plautus uses in Cistellaria), also Greek ἄλκιμος (álkimos), Ἄλκηστις (Álkēstis).
