Usage notes

This prefix is attached to a noun in order to refer to more than three or an unknown number of the entities. It causes the lenition of the noun.

The prefix can be dropped from some common nouns, so the lenition itself already indicates the plural:

tute (“person”) → aysute (“people”) → sute (“people”)
